Sustainable Lands

Our sustainable lands program consists of assisting individuals, citizens’ groups and environmental organizations in their efforts to preserve and protect parks, open space, forests and wilderness areas.

Missouri is home to many beautiful and wild lands which provide recreational space, wildlife habitat, and health benefits to our citizens.

Great Rivers issues comments on proposed rules that may affect environmentally sensitive areas, and as a last resort, represents environmental groups in litigation to enforce the laws.

Over the past 25 years, humans have destroyed one tenth of the Earth’s remaining wilderness. 1 Great Rivers works to protect and preserve Missouri’s remaining wild lands.
