2021 Lewis C. Green Environmental Service Awards Celebration
Great Rivers celebrated Missouri’s environment on October 17th, 2021 at the World’s Fair Pavilion in Forest Park, St. Louis, MO.
The Lewis C. Green Environmental Service Award was presented to two heroes who have made exceptional contributions to the protection of the local environment:
Wayne Goode, Late Great Rivers Board Member, Legislator and Environmental Pioneer
Wayne led the environmental movement in the Missouri Legislature from 1963 to 2005. Wayne followed his 42 years of public service with years of dedicated leadership in many environmental organizations, including serving on the Board of Great Rivers. He is also recognized as the father of the University of Missouri-St. Louis.
Henry Robertson, Retiring Director of Great Rivers Climate and Energy Program
Henry was an invaluable Great Rivers attorney, dedicated to the mission and strength of Great Rivers. He led Great Rivers’ Climate and Energy Program for more than 15 years, a tireless fighter who successfully pushed state and federal officials to follow required standards. Henry wrote much of Missouri’s renewable energy and energy efficiency laws.
The event featured live music generously shared by the Gateway Guitar Quartet, stunning native bouquet centerpieces generously designed by the Wild Ones – St. Louis Chapter, a silent auction, cocktails, and hors d’oeuvres.
Proceeds from the event supported Great Rivers’ legal work to protect the environment and public health.
