GREAT RIVERS ENVIRONMENTAL LAW CENTER
SUMMER AND SCHOOL-YEAR
VOLUNTEER INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
Great Rivers Environmental Law Center welcomes interns who have completed at least one year of law school or one year of a paralegal program. We try to provide students with experiences that will benefit them in their future practice.
Interns generally perform the following tasks: investigate complaints relating to environmental problems’ research case law, statutes and regulations; draft pleadings; and accompany Great Rivers’ attorneys to public appearances in court or administrative agencies.
Interns may work for increments of time that are preferable to them and work may be performed in the office, law library or from home if the matter allows. Great Rivers depends on the assistance of volunteers for the internships; however, many law schools have programs that provide summer stipends.
Interns that have worked for Great Rivers in the past include those from the following law schools and paralegal degree programs:
American University School of Law
Southern Illinois University-Carbondale School of Law
Tulane University Law School
University of Illinois-Champaign School of Law
University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law
University of Oregon School of Law
University of Virginia School of Law
Washington University in St. Louis School of Law
